Robin Boogaerts

About Robin

As a young man, Robin travelled extensively and discovered a passion for cultures and anthropological studies. Once back in Quebec, where he grew up, he worked in the industry of another passion he brought back from his travels: tea.

Preparing, serving and selling tea at the Camellia Sinensis, downtown Montreal, he expanded his knowledge of this art and fell in love with multiple objects that are playing a part of the tea drinking. It’s at this point that he started taking pottery classes.

“Since my very first day on the wheel, I knew I wanted to do teapots. And within the constraint of the teapot, I found the shapes and styles were infinite”.

His ceramics is focus of serving tea enthusiasts such as himself.

“As a tea nerd, I know what connoisseurs want out of their teaware, because it’s what I personally want”.

For him, teaware must be pleasing to the eye, and kind to the hands. Since five years he is dedicated to create quality functional ceramics for the art and pleasure of tea, first in Montreal and now in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

As an addition to the ceramic offer, he is also on a mission to make Thai teas known and available to a western audience. That is, living his “dream job” by chasing rare, organic and quality teas, coming from authentic farmers he meets on his journeys around the country.

Always impressed by Robin’s gaiwans, they look great and are very fun to use! I’ve gotten several from him at this point and each one is both functionally perfect and aesthetically pleasing. I’m always excited to see what cool new designs he will come up with.

My team and I have purchased a number of gorgeous pieces from ArBee Ceramics, including teapots, teacups, gaiwans, chawans, and shiboridashi. Our team group chat goes wild with every update. It’s extremely important to me that teaware be not only beautiful, but functional, too-- Robin never disappoints. The material and shapes lend themselves nicely to clean, smooth brews, and each piece feels wonderful in the hand. These are the sorts of ceramics that add a tremendous amount of sensory value and pleasure to the process of brewing, pouring, and savoring a cup of tea. These are truly pieces for lovers of ceramics and tea alike. Everything ships quickly so I never have to wait long, which is good because anticipation is always high! Each piece arrives thoughtfully packaged and true to the listing.
